Wiring tools handle complicated aircraft testing and more
There's more to wire harness testing than purchasing a cable tester — that could be the simplest part. The larger and more complicated the unit under test such as aircraft, radar systems, or satellites, the more sophisticated the tools must be to manage the process. A typical aircraft may range from 10,000 to 40,000 terminations in the wiring through hundreds of connectors, and the wire list may detail more than 15,000 connections including resistors, relays, circuit breakers, diodes, and switches in addition to splices and terminal blocks.

Aircrew restraint system is big improvement for Air Force
A new restraint system based on the same technology that brings speeding roller coasters to a smooth stop may soon help save warfighter lives and reduce military mobile aircrew injuries. Engineers at the Air Force Research Laboratory's 711th Human Performance Wing, Human Effectiveness Directorate (RH), teamed with Wolf Technical Services to develop the Universal Mobile Aircrew Restraint System after Air Force statistics showed the need for an improved helicopter safety system for loadmasters, flight engineers, medics, pararescuers, and gunners.

Engineer's Toolbox: Surface finish gage measures multiple parts
A new surface finish gage now available from Mahr Federal is custom designed to index and measure multiple small parts such as gears, fuel-injector components, or inner and outer bearing components. Utilizing a lazy susan-type staging table with customized tooling to accommodate up to eight measuring stations, the gage incorporates a Perthometer M1 or M2 surface measuring instrument and supports most common DIN, ISO, ASME, and SEP profile parameters.
