Expanded beam fiber optic connectors specified by Army
PRO BEAM Jr. connectors used in mounted battle command on the move
Tyco Electronics’ line of PRO BEAM Jr. expanded beam fiber optic connectors has been accepted for use in the Mounted Battle Command on the Move (MBCOTM) HMMWV platform. The MBCOTM will also be considered for integration onto Bradley and Stryker vehicle platforms. The MBCOTM is a C4I mission equipment package integrated into TO&E authorized platforms that allows brigade and above commanders to move to the decisive point on the battlefield.
PRO BEAM Jr. expanded beam fiber optic connectors are a ruggedized interconnect capable of high-speed data transmission between various communication network components, an essential aspect of digitizing the battlefield. With PRO BEAM Jr. expanded beam fiber optic connectors, data rates up to 2.5 Gigabits and beyond are possible.
In addition to providing the necessary connection speed and bandwidth, PRO BEAM Jr. expanded beam fiber optic connectors also provide the ruggedness and durability required in harsh environment applications. The expanded beam fiber optic technology used in PRO BEAM Jr. connectors withstands shock and vibration commonly found on tactical military vehicles. Furthermore, the connectors are very easy to clean and maintain compared to other fiber optic connectors. Robust, yet ergonomic couplings at the mating interface make quick and easy connections.
Expanded beam fiber optic technology is well-suited for many other hardened or ruggedized military applications. In addition to tactical communications, PRO BEAM expanded beam fiber optic connectors have been deployed on military aircraft, radar systems, rugged communication systems, and other hardware requiring high-speed, rugged connection interfaces.
Ace Electronics, in conjunction with Tyco Electronics, provides the U.S. Army and its contractors with value add services and integration of PRO BEAM expanded beam fiber optic connectors and cable assemblies.

In-Sight 5400R: Goes where no other sensor can
The new In-Sight 5400R remote head vision sensors have features that are ideal for robot guidance applications or situations where mounting space is limited. The camera head measures only 1-1/4 in. in diameter and 2 in. long, and the processor base unit can be located up to 50 ft away. To top it off, the In-Sight 5400R remote head weighs less than 2.5 oz, which is good to know when weight is an issue.
The 5400R is particularly well-suited for robotic applications (at the end of a robot arm, on a gantry, or on a positioning stage) or anywhere that mounting space is limited. As with other In-Sight 5000 Series vision sensors, the 5400R has a powerful library of vision tools.
The In-Sight 5400R includes the processor unit, remote head camera, mounting bracket, vibration dampener, and 5 mm lens extension. The ultra-high flexibility cables are available separately with many choices in length. When paired with the remote head enclosure (available separately), the In-Sight 5400R provides IP67-rated protection.

Components for touchscreen interface
The TouchSense® System consists of actuators, control boards, and a software development kit (SDK). The system supplies tactile feedback for a touchscreen user interface, making on-screen buttons feel like they press and release. With TouchSense, traditionally passive touch interfaces “come alive” to provide a greater connection with the user. Benefits include increased efficiency, understanding, and user satisfaction for a range of consumer, commercial, industrial, and medical applications.
When the user touches the screen, a signal is sent to the touchscreen controller, which sends the precise location where contact was made to the host application. The application commands the TouchSense control board to play a pre-defined tactile effect through the actuators. The effects vary in frequency, magnitude, duration, and waveshape, resulting in a range of cues that can guide users, including those with visual or hearing disabilities.
