| Can ultraviolet communication help transform Army networks? U.S. Army researchers are studying the detectability of ultraviolet communication systems in a bid to deliver more secure military networks. Ultraviolet communication has unique propagation characteristics. They allow for a novel non-line-of-sight optical link, and the transmissions may be harder for an adversary to detect.

| Podcast: Masters of Engineering -- Corvette Stingray began as a lump of clay In a 17-year career at GM, Senior Industrial Design Sculptor Mark Ferri led the teams designing the exteriors and interiors of vehicles such as the Corvette Stingray, the Camaro 6, and the Chevy Colorado and Trailblazer. Many of these sleek looks were first refined as full-size clay concept models before they were further developed in 3D CAD. Recently, Ferris shared insights on conceptual design and prototyping as a guest on Onshape founder Jon Hirschtick's "Masters of Engineering" podcast. Ferri revealed the surprisingly critical role of physical human touch -- called cross-modal sensory perception -- in designing iconic cars.
